Bodyscan Ireland offers a great service, Eoin is so knowledgeable and explains everything so well. This is really good info to have for a multitude of reasons, for me it was to see where I was in relation to training for body fat and muscle mass, but it was also great to get an idea of bone density. With all this info I'm much more informed about where I stand and what I need to work on. Great work Eoin!

FAQ'S

What Does a VO2 Max Test Measure?

A VO2 max test measures your body’s ability to use oxygen during exercise. It provides insight into your cardiovascular fitness and endurance by determining the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense physical activity. This information is valuable for improving performance, monitoring fitness levels, and assessing health risks.

How Is The Test Conducted?

The VO2 max test is typically performed on a treadmill or stationary bike, where you gradually increase the intensity of exercise. You will wear a mask connected to a machine that measures the amount of oxygen you inhale and the carbon dioxide you exhale, which allows for precise calculation of your VO2 max.

What Should I Wear?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothing and proper footwear suitable for exercise (running shoes or cycling shoes, depending on the equipment used). The goal is to move freely and comfortably during the test.

When Should I eat?

Do not eat for 4 hours before your scan. Water is fine, but avoid over consuming close to the test, to avoid any gut discomfort during the test.

How Much Water Should I Drink?

Be well-hydrated during the day before your scan. Drink 500ml of water 1- 2 hours before your test. Empty your bladder 10 minutes before your scan and defecate if required.

What About Exercise?

To get the most accurate results, avoid strenuous exercise 24 hours before the test. Your body should be rested and recovered to perform at its best.

What If I'm Pregnant?

It is generally recommended to avoid high-intensity tests like VO2 max while pregnant unless advised otherwise by your doctor. Always consult with your healthcare provider before engaging in any intense exercise during pregnancy.

Can I Have A VO2 Max With A Pacemaker Or Metal Implants?
